Though it’s our last endorsement class before the general election, these newly endorsed candidates will continue to show up and make a difference beyond November. We couldn’t be more proud to introduce 47 new down-ballot candidates who are proving to be instrumental in flipping states and bringing diversity to state and local politics. RFS is delighted to support this diverse group, consisting of 60% women, and 23% LGBTQIA-identifying candidates across 25 states.

Jocelyn Lampkin

City Council, Ward 4 Position 2, Bentonville, AR

Jocelyn, a Filipino-American residing in Bentonville, AR for 17 years with her husband and three sons, is a committed military spouse and mother. Margaret (Maggie) Mouser

Santa Barbara Unified School Board, Area 5, Goleta, CA

Aliya Chisti

City Community College Board, San Francisco, CA

Aliya, a San Francisco native from a low-income background, discovered the power of education early on. In 2020, she made history by becoming the first Muslim elected official in San Francisco as a City College Board of Trustees member, earning over 126,000 votes. Passionate about student success, she spearheaded the eradication of $2 million in student debt for 14,000 students.

With over a decade of experience in education and a Masters in Education Policy from Columbia University, Aliya is dedicated to public education. As a Fulbright Scholar and former legislative advisor on the Board of Supervisors, she championed initiatives like “Ban the Box” to enhance access to education. Aliya also played a pivotal role in implementing the Free City College Program, providing tuition-free education for San Francisco residents.

Miguel Soto

Jorge “Cheko” Pacheco Jr

Santa Clara County Board of Education, Trustee Area 4

Jorge has dedicated the last decade to serving his community as a public school elementary and middle school teacher, along with holding the position of a twice-elected school board member in the Oak Grove School District for six years. As the President and CEO of the California Latino School Boards Association for the past four years, he utilizes his expertise to guide school board members statewide on fostering positive changes for students. Born, raised, and educated in Santa Clara County, Jorge is deeply committed to public service, especially within his local community.

Jorge’s primary focus is on advocating for vulnerable students, drawing from his personal experience as both an English learner and special education student. His goal in running for a position on the Santa Clara County Board of Education is to champion policies that positively impact the county’s 260,000+ students and its 31 local school districts through the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

His key initiatives include prioritizing safety measures for special education students, ensuring secure classrooms, and providing teachers with necessary support. Additionally, Jorge aims to promote the advancement of artificial intelligence in education to ensure all students and educators have access to and training in this vital technology.

Gene Kim

School Board, Trustee Area 5, San Mateo-Foster City School District

As a first-generation college graduate and a product of California public schools, Gene is deeply committed to advocating for quality education.
