Run for Something (RFS) today unveiled our first wave of endorsements of the new year, featuring a dynamic group of 60 candidates, including 16 alumni, hailing from 21 states across the nation. Judge, Department 1, Humboldt County, CA

April is a candidate for the position of Superior Court Judge in Humboldt County. With a strong commitment to her community, she is dedicated to making Humboldt County an even better place to call home. During his time as a school board trustee, Chinua has initiated impactful programs. Notably, he raised the Trans flag to symbolize his district’s commitment to inclusivity in the face of societal obstacles. Hesperia case, which deeply affected him. The discovery that his local government had passed an unconstitutional ordinance that targeted and evicted Latinos and African Americans from their homes struck a personal chord. Recognizing that this was an attack on people like himself, his family, and his friends, Chris felt compelled to take action.
Hesperia’s pressing needs have been neglected for far too long. The community faces challenges such as deteriorating roads, limited social services, inadequate infrastructure, a dearth of well-paying jobs, an affordable housing crisis, environmental neglect, and inadequate access to healthcare and higher education. In response, Chris is determined to confront these issues head-on by focusing on investment in Community, Healing, Restoration, Innovation, and Solutions.

Alongside her commitment to public service, Gracie is a co-founder of IEWORKS, an organization that has successfully secured $1.5 million in funding for water and wastewater workforce development projects. Kevin is a dedicated public servant with over 7 years of experience in various roles within his hometown of Norfolk, MA. He began his journey in local government as a member of the Norfolk Planning Board and later successfully ran for a seat on the Select Board. Currently serving his sixth year on the Select Board, with half of that time as Chair, Kevin also contributes his expertise to the Norfolk County Advisory Board and the Mass Transit Advisory Committee.
In 2022, Kevin proved his passion for public service by running for State Representative in his district. Despite facing a formidable challenge with a nearly 30-year single-party hold on the office, Kevin came impressively close to flipping the seat in the general election, falling short by just 0.87% or 360 votes. Prior to this role, Jimmy served as a senior Congressional staffer, bringing his expertise and insights to the offices of two members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Jimmy’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in biology and international relations from The College of William & Mary, as well as a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. With his immense experience and commitment to community, Jimmy Lewis continues to make a significant impact in Alexandria and beyond.

Phazhon is a passionate candidate running for Roanoke City Council with a mission to serve the community. Born and raised in Roanoke, he draws inspiration from his single mother, Vietnam War Veteran grandfather, and trailblazing grandmother who was the first Black person and woman elected as Vice President for Roanoke’s local CWA Union.
With a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and a minor in American Government from George Mason University, Phazhon has a strong educational background. Currently working as an Operations Consultant at Carilion Clinic in Emergency Medicine, he ensures that all patients receive high-quality and equitable care across six emergency departments in southwestern Virginia. Committed to continuous growth, he is pursuing a Masters in Population Health Science from the University of Alabama online.
Phazhon’s experience as a Community Outreach Liaison for Delegate Sam Rasoul provided valuable insights into the concerns of Roanoke citizens. Recognizing the need for a councilman who listens, cares, and collaborates to address community issues, Phazhon decided to step forward. Though young, he is well-prepared to serve the citizens of Roanoke and make the city a healthier, safer, more equitable, and livable place for all residents to call home.
