Run for Something (RFS) is proud to announce our March endorsement class, the latest cohort of changemakers ready to meet this pivotal moment in our nation’s history. This month’s 40 endorsees are shining examples of the type of leadership that is possible in every corner of our nation.

“Republican extremists are running for office and pushing their far-right agendas up and down the ballot in 2024, so we’re excited to endorse so many candidates that have stepped up to stop them,” RFS co-founder and co-executive director Amanda Litman said. “Progressives can’t just focus on battleground states if we want to have an impact, which is why we’re supporting candidates running for everything from school board in Nebraska to state house in Massachusetts.”

ARIZONA

Priya Sundareshan

State Senate, District 18, AZ

Primary Date: Jul 30, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Priya, a Tucson native, is a passionate advocate for sustainable resource management and voting rights. With a background in engineering from MIT and law and natural resource economics from the University of Arizona, she brings a science-based approach to her work. Formerly a professor at U of A, Priya now focuses on voter protection and redistricting efforts within the Arizona Democratic Party. As a mother of two, she strives to create a sustainable future for her children and all children in Arizona, drawing on her love for the outdoors and dedication to preserving the state for generations to come.

Mikah Dyer

School Board, Peoria, AZ

Mikah is a passionate advocate for student representation and educational reform, currently running for a position on the Peoria Unified School Board. Being a product of the Peoria Unified School District, Mikah offers a fresh perspective as a current student and future educator. His goal is to drive positive change within the district by prioritizing education, community engagement, and equity. Throughout his educational journey in PUSD, from kindergarten to present, Mikah has witnessed firsthand the obstacles and opportunities students face on a daily basis, fueling his dedication to empowering student voices. With a history of community involvement, such as chairing the Peoria Youth Advisory Board, acting as the Youth Liaison for the city council, and founding a school club focused on civic engagement, Mikah has built strong relationships with peers, leaders, and educators. These experiences have equipped him with valuable insights into the district’s needs and potential for growth.

Casey Clowes

Project Board, Seat 11, Salt River, AZ

Casey is a candidate for the Salt River Project District Board, At-Large seat 11, advocating for healthy and sustainable communities in the Valley. With a background as an attorney, voting rights advocate, and climate champion, Casey currently serves as the Voting Rights Director at Progress Arizona. She partners with non-profit organizations, labor unions, and community members to advance pro-voter and pro-democracy policies at the state legislature. Casey holds a BS in Public Service and Public Policy from ASU and a JD from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where she focused on sustainability and environmental law. With experience at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Casey worked to ensure reliable and affordable energy while representing the public interest. Additionally, as a community organizer, she actively addresses the climate crisis. With her expertise, Casey aims to create a clean energy future for all, drawing on her ability to develop inclusive solutions to complex policy issues.

Rebecca Thompson

School Board, District 2, Broward County, FL

Rebecca brings over a decade of experience in community social work and policy, most recently serving as a school social worker for Broward County Public Schools. With a familial legacy of educators spanning three generations, Rebecca pursued her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University to further her impact on educational policy. Her previous role as a School Social Worker for Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia underscored the importance of community and parental involvement in education, promoting student-centered holistic programs. Transitioning to Broward County Public Schools, Rebecca witnessed the far-reaching effects of decisions made by the School Board and state government, motivating her to seek a more influential role as an aide for the School Board of Broward County. With a passionate drive to advocate for students and teachers, Rebecca aspires to enhance the district’s focus on quality education. Personally invested as a parent with children in Broward County Public Schools, her dedication to elevating the educational standards in Broward County is both professional and deeply personal.

Stephanie Arguello

School Board, District 3, Seminole County, FL

Tashé Allen

Gewel Richardson

School Board, District 5, Henry County, GA

Gewel is an urban planner focused on community-based planning. Her passion lies in creating sustainable and vibrant communities. Despite an unsuccessful bid for the Henry County School Board in 2020, Gewel’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for children has only strengthened. She now advocates for inspiring minds and shaping futures, moving beyond traditional education to emphasize holistic development and innovative solutions for the community’s youth. Gewel believes in redefining community engagement, viewing it as a collective effort in nurturing children. Her vision includes an educational system where equity and inclusion drive decision-making processes. INDIANA

Andrew Roberts

Coroner, Allen County, IN

Dr. Roberts, a primary care physician from Northeast Indiana, is dedicated to improving healthcare access and reform. With a background in medicine and a passion for public service, he is running for Allen County coroner. Dr. Roberts advocates for universal healthcare coverage, affordable medication, preventative care, and addressing healthcare disparities. He also fervently supports LGBTQIA+ rights, aiming to combat discrimination in Indiana. Raised in rural Indiana, he values honesty, reliability, and accountability, qualities he plans to bring to office if elected. Dr. Roberts, along with his husband and two daughters, believes in the importance of community support and plans to represent Hoosiers with integrity and dependability. His campaign aims to demonstrate that Democrats can succeed in local government positions in traditionally conservative areas, paving the way for broader electoral success in the future.

KENTUCKY

Molly Gene Crain

State Senate, District 27, KY

Primary Date: May 21, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Molly is a common sense, no nonsense candidate running for Kentucky State Senate. Her campaign seeks to reinvigorate the livelihood of rural Kentucky communities by championing for Families, Farms, Funding for public schools, infrastructure and economic development plans, and to Fix Frankfort. A native of Senate District 27’s small town of Flemingsburg, Molly is co-owner of the Crain Family Farm there with her sister. Molly is also a lawyer and runs a common ground policy solutions firm, Kestrel Consulting, with her husband Rob Fenton in Lexington, Kentucky. The product of two agricultural legacies in the district: Crain’s Tobacco Warehouse and the Bluegrass Stockyards, Molly knows deeply the struggles of farmers and their families, and will do everything she can to be the advocate and public servant they deserve. From increasing access to mental health services, giving teachers and school support staff a raise, to restoring access to reproductive health care, Molly will work to ensure a better future for the next generation.

Taylor McGovern U’Sellis

Metro Council, District 8, Louisville, KY

Primary Date: May 21, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Taylor, a dedicated resident and working mother within her district, is actively involved in her community. With a commitment to fostering community connections, she serves on the board of her children’s elementary school PTA and neighborhood association. Taylor’s goal for her term is to enhance affordability, equity, and sustainability within the district and city. She aims to address issues such as affordable housing, accessibility to public services, and sustainability practices like multi-modal transportation and solar power. Additionally, Taylor prioritizes constituent services, ensuring open access to her office for neighbors. By emphasizing community engagement, Taylor believes in building a stronger, more inclusive neighborhood together.

Adam Moore

State House, District 45, KY

Adam, a devoted husband, father, veteran, and small business owner, embraces the values of compassion, hard work, and service to the country. His dedication to community service has been honed through years of volunteer work in Central Kentucky. Now, he is eager to expand his impact as he seeks to represent the 45th district in the Kentucky state legislature. Adam’s mission is to empower the people by safeguarding individual liberties and promoting transparency in government. His platform prioritizes enhancing public education, advocating for reproductive rights, supporting working families, and increasing legislative openness. Through these initiatives, Adam aims to propel Kentucky towards a brighter and more prosperous future for all its residents.

MICHIGAN

Meredith Place

County Clerk, Kalamazoo County, MI

Primary Date: Aug 6, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Meredith is currently serving her first term as the Kalamazoo County Clerk/Register of Deeds, where she oversees the safekeeping of various public records and acts as the Chief Election Official for the County. With a background deeply rooted in values of hard work and community care from her upbringing in Eastern Iowa, Meredith is a dedicated public servant. She holds a degree in Political Science, Communication Studies, and Sustainability from the University of Iowa.

Actively involved in her community, Meredith has served on various boards and commissions, including the City of Portage’s Planning Commission and the Kalamazoo County Environmental Health Advisory Council. She is also a member of the League of Women Voters and has represented the City of Portage on the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.

A member of both the Michigan Association of County Clerks (MACC) and the Michigan Association of Registers of Deeds (MARD), Meredith was appointed by Governor Whitmer to the Michigan Electronic Recording Commission in 2021. She resides in Portage with her husband, John Taylor, and two children.

Finn Roberts

Trustee, Lodi Township, MI

Finn, 22, is a multimedia artist with a strong passion for using art to create a positive impact on the community. Following in the footsteps of renowned queer artist Keith Haring, Finn embraces all forms of art and believes in making art accessible to the public. Engaging in public art events such as “Chalk the Block” in St. Joseph, MI since the age of 18, Finn creates art for personal fulfillment and welcomes others to experience his artistic world.

Additionally, Finn is a candidate for Trustee, aiming to promote environmental justice and enhance the accessibility of Lodi Township government for all constituents. Recognizing the urgent need for collaborative action in the face of escalating global emissions, Finn acknowledges the critical role of government leaders in safeguarding and restoring the environment.

In light of the challenges posed by climate change, Finn advocates for unity and proactive measures to address environmental concerns at every level of governance.

Eric Roberts

Clerk, Lodi Township, MI

Primary Date: Aug 6, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Eric, MMC, is a law student at the University of Toledo and a former deputy clerk & elections director. With extensive experience as a poll worker in over 20 elections, Eric holds the prestigious title of Master Municipal Clerk, a distinction achieved by only about 60 individuals in Michigan. Equipped with a Graduate Certificate in Election Administration from the University of Minnesota, Eric is dedicated to ensuring the integrity and accessibility of Lodi’s electoral processes. Elected at the age of 18 to the Kenowa Hills Public Schools Board of Education, he became the board’s first LGBTQ+ member and spearheaded initiatives to provide all students in his community with WiFi access during the COVID pandemic. Recognized for his contributions, Eric received the esteemed President’s Award of Recognition from the Michigan Association of School Boards. Actively involved in civic education, he serves as a Trustee and Past President of the Michigan Center for Civic Education, organizing the National High School Mock Trial Championships in Michigan for the first time in Kalamazoo in May 2022. A graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program, Eric is committed to enhancing civic understanding and developing effective public servants. In addition to his academic and civic pursuits, he owns and manages two small businesses: one that assigns officials for youth baseball and softball tournaments across Michigan, and another as a state-licensed charitable gaming supplier that facilitates poker events benefiting charities with anticipated proceeds of $80,000 to $100,000 in 2024.

Joey Andrews

State House, District 38, MI

Primary Date: Aug 6, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Joey, a St. Joseph native, is running for re-election in Michigan’s 38th House District, covering Berrien, Allegan, and Van Buren counties. He holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in History and Music from Carson-Newman University and Wayne State University and a Juris Doctor degree. Returning to his hometown after law school, Joey embarked on a political career while revitalizing his family’s business during the Great Recession. His firsthand experience with community challenges fuels his dedication to progress and advocacy in office. Joey successfully led efforts to repeal “Right to Work” laws and has been a vocal supporter of reproductive rights, ensuring access to healthcare services. He played a key role in expanding the Elliot Larsen Civil Rights Act to promote equality and justice in Michigan. Joey has prioritized investing in his district, securing funds to address issues like shoreline erosion and drive economic development, exemplified by the Palisades Nuclear Energy Project. With a track record of delivering results and fighting for constituents, re-electing Joey Andrews is crucial for the continued prosperity of Michigan’s 38th House District.

Sarah Yang

Anthony Ealy

State House, District 36, MO

Anthony is seeking reelection for the Missouri State House of Representatives based on his track record of advocating for his constituents in South Jackson County. Nick Kimble

State House, District 82, MO

Allison Heimes

State Senate, District 39, NE

Allison is a candidate for Nebraska State Legislature, District 39, advocating for mental health resources, education, and financial relief for families. With personal experiences guiding her, she aims to address challenges such as property taxes and childcare costs. A resident of the district for over a decade, Allison’s background includes practicing immigration law, with her husband serving in the military and children attending public school. Committed to her community, she brings a combination of empathy and hard work to her endeavors.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Shoshanna Kelly

Executive Council, District 5, NH

Primary Date: Sep 10, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Shoshanna, Alderwoman at-Large, is a dedicated public servant, small business owner, and proud mother in Nashua. Elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022, she is known for her advocacy for public education, founding Nashua’s Pride Festival, supporting small businesses, and championing local efforts against the climate crisis.

In her second term, Shoshanna led the creation of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and currently serves on a committee focused on increasing affordable housing options in Nashua. She is now running for the Executive Council in District Five, aiming to address key issues affecting Granite Staters.

Throughout her career, Shoshanna has broken barriers as the first woman of color elected as an at-large Alderwoman in Nashua in 2017 and the first person of color to be a major party nominee for Executive Council in 2022. If elected in 2024, she will become the highest-level elected person of color in the history of New Hampshire.

In addition to her political work, Shoshanna is actively involved in community organizations such as the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter and Peacock Players. She resides in Ward 5 with her husband, Dave, their children Elsa and Miles, and a lively bunch of five chickens.

NEW JERSEY

Sarah Virgo

City Council, At-Large, Plainfield, NJ

Primary Date: Jun 4, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Sarah is a dedicated healthcare professional and elected Commissioner in Plainfield. With a passion for reproductive rights, affordable housing, sustainable infrastructures, and social justice, she aims to represent the diverse voices of residents and work towards a more vibrant and sustainable future. Sarah has presented over 260 progressive policies and 26 legislative resolutions, all of which have been adopted. She successfully argued against an antiquated regulation that discriminated against urban districts, benefiting not only Plainfield but districts across New Jersey. Sarah also implemented accountability standards for curriculum and lobbied for the establishment of a Chief Equity Officer. As Chair of the Strategic Planning process, she led the creation of Plainfield’s first strategic plan in over a decade. Sarah believes her experience can contribute to the City Council and is running because she believes all residents deserve a better Plainfield.

NEW MEXICO

Katharine Clark

County Clerk, Sante Fe, NM

Primary Date: Jun 4, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Katharine, serving as the Santa Fe County Clerk since 2021, has been a transformative force in election accessibility and inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of every voice in democracy. Her leadership positioned Santa Fe County as a progressive election administration model in New Mexico, earning U.S. Election Assistance Commission accolades twice for best practices. She spearheaded the installation of the most ballot drop boxes per capita in the state and initiated same-day voter registration, focusing on young, minority, and marginalized voters. Her office is also recognized for enhancing accessibility for differently-abled voters. Representing Santa Fe County at the NM Association of Counties, Clerk Clark serves on the Finance, Pensions & Intergovernmental Affairs Policy and Elections subcommittee of the National Association of Counties. A founding member of the Partnership for Large Election Jurisdictions and board member of Santa Fe Pride and the Human Rights Alliance, her impact goes beyond her office. Holding degrees from UC Berkeley in Cognitive Neuroscience and Interdisciplinary Studies, and an MBA from UNM with dual emphasis in Human Resources and Public Policy, Katharine’s diverse experience as a small business owner, executive management consultant, technologist, and legislative staffer, showcases a governance approach centered on innovation, inclusivity, and community engagement.

NEW YORK

William O. Wagstaff, III

District Attorney, Westchester County, NY

William, a Westchester County native and Pace Law School graduate residing in Mount Vernon, is a dedicated advocate for social justice. With a background in law and an MBA from Fordham Business School, William has honed his skills in trial strategies, focusing on Civil Rights Litigation, Criminal Defense, and Municipal Law. His legal expertise has garnered media attention from prestigious outlets such as The New York Times and CNN.

In his pursuit to become the first black District Attorney in Westchester County, William aims to revolutionize the criminal justice system. His vision includes initiatives to promote safety, fairness, and equity for all residents, irrespective of socio-economic status, race, or other factors. He champions support for individuals struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues and advocates for approaches like diversion and restorative justice.

William’s professional background includes serving as a Special Prosecutor for Police Disciplinary Hearings and Chair of the Mayor’s Judicial Appointment Committee. With a passion for effecting change in his community, William strives to create a justice system that prioritizes safety and compassion, paving the way for long-lasting transformation.

NORTH CAROLINA

Allen Buansi

State House, District 56, NC

Allen is a candidate for re-election to the N.C. State House, driven by his commitment to an affordable, accessible, and inclusive North Carolina. With a background in civil rights and land use law, Allen has advocated for working families, public education, environmental justice, and affordable healthcare access. During his first term, he played a key role in passing legislation such as Medicaid Expansion and bills addressing voting rights, minimum wage, childcare assistance, housing affordability, abortion access, gun safety, and education funding. Allen’s passion for social justice stems from his admiration of figures like Thurgood Marshall and Shirley Chisholm, who inspired him to work towards an equal and equitable society with ample opportunities for all. Courtney Bullock

Register of Deeds, Franklin County, NC

Courtney, a candidate for Register of Deeds, is dedicated to reforming the office for increased transparency and efficiency. With a focus on equity, she aims to bring about positive changes in Franklin County. As the first African American woman vying for this role, Courtney’s goal is to empower underrepresented communities and ensure fair services for all residents. Her vision includes modernizing processes, enhancing access to property records, and implementing initiatives to meet the diverse needs of the community. Through collaboration and a strong commitment to public service, Courtney Bullock is committed to creating a more inclusive and effective Register of Deeds office.

PENNSYLVANIA

Jay Santos

State House, District 131, PA

Primary Date: Apr 23, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

With a Computer Science background and expertise in business intelligence solutions, Jay is a first-generation All-American from Allentown who has excelled at Penn State University. Jay has worked as a Paralegal and at Dun and Bradstreet before becoming a School Director on the Saucon Valley School Board. With a strong commitment to public service and a successful track record in elected roles, they now aspire to be a State Representative. Their focus is on creating legislation that tackles the community’s most urgent issues with a blend of knowledge and compassion.

Lindsay Powell

State House, District 21, PA

Primary Date: Apr 23, 2024; General Date: Nov 5, 2024

Lindsay, a seasoned advocate for social justice and equality, serves as the Director of Workforce Strategies at InnovatePGH in Pittsburgh. In this role, she focuses on fostering employment opportunities for underrepresented individuals in the local tech industry. Prior to her current position, Lindsay spent five years as Assistant Chief of Staff at the City of Pittsburgh, overseeing legislative efforts and policies for various city departments. During her time there, she spearheaded programs such as the city’s digital equity initiative and the expansion of the summer free meal program. Lindsay’s dedication to community service extends to her experience working with federal officials like US Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Hakeem Jeffries. She is also a proud Fulbright Scholarship recipient, teaching English in rural Malaysian high schools. Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wheaton College and a Master’s of Science in Public Policy Management from Carnegie Mellon University Heinz College. Lindsay is actively involved in organizations such as NeighborWorksSWPA and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, and is an alumna of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the New Leaders Council. She currently resides in Lawrenceville with her cherished dog, Willow.

Nick Pisciottano

State Senate, District 45, PA

Nick, a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, represents PA House District 38 and was re-elected for a second term in 2022. He is part of the new Democratic House Majority and has been recognized for passing a high number of bills this term. Throughout his tenure, Nick has prioritized key issues such as education, community safety, and opportunities for future generations. He has advocated for workers’ rights, increased school funding, economic development, and equitable resource allocation for Allegheny County. Nick’s commitment extends to his plans as the next state Senator, where he aims to address minimum wage, voting rights, women’s rights, and streamline government services for all residents. With deep roots in the region dating back over 160 years, Nick, along with his wife, Molly, is raising their son, Nico, in the same community that shaped him. He is dedicated to creating a path for the next generation’s success in Allegheny County.

Hamilton Grant

State House, District 79, NC

Hamilton, a Columbia native and South Carolina State University graduate, is a dedicated husband, father, businessman, and community leader.
